What a tragedy! The whole country is mourning the passing. When you find out who it is, you will cry

A devastating house explosion occurred in Defiance, Missouri, on Friday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of two young brothers, Julian Keiser, aged 4, and Jamison Keiser, aged 6. This incident took place on a day when local schools had canceled classes due to severe weather conditions, leaving the boys at home with their family. While their mother, Evelyn Turpiano, and their grandparents, Jennifer and Vern Ham, managed to escape the fire, the young boys were not rescued in time.

Emergency responders arrived promptly but encountered significant obstacles due to the intensity of the flames. Chief Dan Casey of the New Melle Fire Protection District noted the challenges in locating the children, stating, “The fire prevented them from being found right away.” Despite the firefighters’ valiant efforts, they were unable to save the boys.

Sharon Oberlag, a neighbor who witnessed the explosion, expressed her sorrow over the loss, describing Julian and Jamison as “the nicest little boys” who had a passion for school. “They thought school was the coolest thing ever,” she remarked, highlighting the joy and energy the brothers brought to their community.

The residence where the explosion occurred is owned by the Hoffmann Family of Companies, who expressed profound condolences for the family’s tragic loss. In a statement, they conveyed, “Our hearts are with the member of our team and their family who lost their children and grandchildren.”

In light of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist the family. This initiative, launched by Dan Tripp, a co-owner of Good News Brewing in Defiance, has raised over $145,000. Both Evelyn and her mother, Jennifer, are active participants in the Defiance Merchants Association, a local organization that has come together to support the family during this difficult time. Tripp emphasized that the funds would be allocated to cover funeral expenses and aid the family in recovering from the loss of their home.

Neighbor Laura Emerson, who visited the site of the explosion, placed a Christmas wreath on the remnants of the house. Reflecting on the boys, she shared her heartfelt sentiments.

The unfortunate event has created a profound emptiness within the community. As members unite to provide support, the memories of Julian and Jamison will remain treasured by all who were acquainted with them. Their passion for life, commitment to learning, and the happiness they shared with others will always be remembered.
