In response to the backlash, Sinclair Broadcast Group, which operates over 30 ABC affiliates, announced it would replace Jimmy Kimmel Live! with a special tribute to Charlie Kirk. Sinclair’s Vice Chairman, Jason Smith, stated that Kimmel’s remarks were “inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country.” The company also demanded that Kimmel issue a public apology and make a donation to both the Kirk family and Turning Point USA, the organization co-founded by Kirk.
