After a brutal winter in 2024-2025 with record snow and extreme cold, the Farmers’ Almanac is calling for another chilly season in 2025-2026. The 209th edition predicts a “Chill, Snow, Repeat” pattern, with cold and snowy conditions likely from the Northern Plains to New England — though not as harsh as last year.

Cold weather may arrive earlier than usual in many northern areas, bringing the first wintry blasts before winter officially begins on Dec. 21. Snowy conditions could make for a White Christmas in parts of the Northern Plains.
