A Brother’s Struggle
Fred Trump Jr., born in 1938, was the eldest son of real estate magnate Fred Trump Sr. and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump. Unlike his father and younger brother Donald, who were deeply entrenched in the family real estate business, Fred Jr. aspired to become a pilot. He pursued this dream, flying for Trans World Airlines (TWA), but his career was cut short due to his struggles with alcoholism.
By the early 1970s, Fred Jr.’s addiction had taken a severe toll on his health and professional life, leading him to leave his piloting career and return to work in the family business in a limited capacity. His battle with alcohol ultimately led to his untimely death from a heart attack at the age of 42 in 1981.
