Blanding filed a lawsuit alleging discrimination based on her weight, arguing it’s as unlawful as discrimination based on race or religion. Her lawyers claim the incident caused her emotional distress and seek damages.
Many online users sided with the driver, suggesting safety concerns justified his refusal, while others debated whether this was true discrimination. Some, including other plus-sized riders, noted it’s common practice to request a larger vehicle like Lyft XL for comfort.
