As she listened to others share touching stories about their mothers, she found herself overwhelmed with emotion.
One woman shared how her mother prepared special lunches, had boots ready for rainy days, and gently helped her remove them once home. Oprah, however, couldn’t recall similar cherished memories with her own mother.

After deep reflection, Oprah realized that the only way she could appreciate her mother was by accepting her choice to have her. She expressed it with a blend of acceptance and sadness, saying, “She didn’t abort me.” Oprah understood her mother did her best, but it often left her feeling invisible and unvalued. Despite this, she acknowledged that what she received was all her mother could offer.
