The bus had been traveling back from Niagara Falls and was headed toward New York City. Most families on board were identified as Filipino, Indian, and Chinese tourists.

Witness Powell Stephens, who drove past the crash, told The Buffalo News: “There was glass all over the road and people’s stuff everywhere. Windows were all shattered.”

Governor Kathy Hochul said she was briefed and called the tragedy “heartbreaking,” while Attorney General Letitia James added: “This bus crash is heartbreaking, and I’m praying for everyone impacted.”
