Fast forward to today. I was going through the mail when I found an envelope addressed to me. Confused, I opened it, and inside was a thank-you note. It was from the woman I had helped two years ago. She explained that she had been going through a really tough time back then and that my act of kindness had meant the world to her. As a token of gratitude, she had sent me a check to reimburse me for the groceries.

What really struck me was that she had been doing well enough to pay it forward, and now, she wanted to thank me for the difference I’d made when she needed it most.
