Peace lilies are generous bloomers when their basic needs are truly met, not just roughly approximated. They need bright, indirect light—not a dark corner, not harsh sun. A north or east-facing window, or a spot a few feet back from a bright window, usually gives them the confidence to send up those white spathes. In low light, they’ll survive, but blooming is the first thing they sacrifice.

They also bloom best when slightly snug in their pot. If the roots are swimming in soil, growth goes to leaves and roots, not flowers. Use a well-draining mix, water when the top inch feels dry, and avoid letting the plant sit in soggy saucers. A balanced, diluted houseplant fertilizer every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer nudges it from “I’m coping” to “I’m thriving.” When that first bloom appears, it isn’t luck—it’s your plant finally feeling safe enough to celebrate.
