Freaked! I Woke Up To!

Those tiny spirals weren’t a mystery after all; they were a message. Every drag of my wrist across a desk, every sweaty workout, every tight sleeve pulling against the strap had been carving away at the band in silence. The watch still looked fine from a distance, but up close, the surface was fraying, soft curls collecting like proof that nothing, not even silicone, survives endless friction unchanged.

Replacing the band felt almost trivial at first, like swapping a shoelace. Yet the moment the new strap clicked into place, everything shifted. The watch sat lighter, smoother, quieter on my skin. No more shavings on the sheets, no more roughness against my wrist, no more low-level irritation I’d convinced myself was normal. Those curls had been telling a simple story: this part of your life is worn out. Let it go, and let something stronger take its place.
