David always found himself a window seat on the school bus back home. As always, he opened the window wide and let the afternoon breeze brush across his face as he recollected the game he played that day, moment by moment.“That was unbelievable, what you did on the field today!” one of his mates had said.
“I think we’ve got a national-level player on our hands, guys. Get your autographs while you can!” another player teased David, patting his back almost a bit too hard.That was the distant dream — playing for his country and creating history, like all his soccer heroes.
David could almost taste it; the sweet air of victory and pride when his team and he held the golden championship trophy and smiled for the photographs.
David would constantly rehearse what he would say for the cameras and the papers at the end of the match. How he rose from humble beginnings. And how he owed his mother everything he had become

But that dream seemed to drift further away when he saw his classmate, Tommy, shivering in the cold with worn-out shoes that barely covered his feet. David couldn’t bear to see his friend suffer, so he made a decision that surprised everyone. He decided to give up his dream shoes – the ones he had saved up for months to buy – and used the money to buy a brand new pair of boots for Tommy.

“Is this the home of David?” the man asked, and David timidly stepped forward. The man handed him the box and said, “This is a gift from the local soccer team for your incredible act of kindness. We heard what you did for Tommy, and we wanted to reward you for your big heart.”
David opened the box and couldn’t believe his eyes. Inside were brand new soccer gear – jerseys, shorts, socks, and even a new pair of boots. David was speechless as he looked at the gifts in front of him, feeling a mix of emotions.
From that day on, David realized that sometimes, helping others and being kind can bring unexpected rewards. His dream of playing for his country was still alive, but now, he knew that being a good person was just as important.
