Jennifer Garner and ex-husband Ben Affleck’s child Seraphina presented their new identity to the world for the first time during their granddad’s memorial service.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s 15-year-old has announced they’re now called Fin instead of Seraphina Rose.
The 13 Going on 30 actress and her loved ones gathered for the memorial service of her dad William Jack Garner at the Christ Church United Methodist in Charleston, West Virginia.
Wearing a black suit and sporting a buzzcut, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s child followed the other grandchildren of William, who passed away aged 85, into the church.
When it came to introducing themselves at the church lectern, the child formerly known as Seraphina Rose said: “Hello my name is Fin Affleck.”
The teenager went on to read Chapter 16, Verse 8, from the Book of Proverbs: “Better is a little with righteousness, than a large income with injustice”.
Fin was first seen with the new short haircut in February but the funeral was the first time they had publicly introduced their new name .
They are the middle child of Garner and Affleck, with older sister Violet Anne, 18, and younger brother Samuel, 15.
The siblings’ parents split in 2015 with the divorce finalised three years later with Affleck married to singer Jennifer Lopez.
Her 16-year-old Emme Maribel Muniz uses gender-neutral pronouns and has reportedly grown close to Fin as a step-sibling.
In February, they were seen out and about together with Fin’s hair temporarily dyed pink.
Though Fin didn’t announce their name until the memorial service, there had been a strong hint that this was to come some days prior.
They were seen hugging Garner goodbye at a bus stop in Brentwood, Los Angeles, with their backpack etched with the name “Fin” in embroidery.
The teenager has been seen in more masculine clothes for several years now with shorter haircuts.
On Instagram, Garner shared a heartbreaking tribute to announce her father’s d:ea:th, stating that he had passed away “peacefully”.
She wrote: “We are grateful for dad’s gentle demeanor and quiet strength.
“For how he teased with a mischievous smile, and for the way he invented the role of all in, ever patient girl dad.
“We are grateful for his work ethic, leadership and faith.”
