The Dog That Led the Way

The police dog, a German Shepherd named Rex, moved swiftly through the Carter household. Guided by the scent from Mark’s belongings, Rex led Officers Ruiz and his partner into the dimly lit basement. Their flashlights cast long shadows across the cluttered space, filled with boxes and forgotten storage bins.

Rex paused in a corner, nose twitching over a dusty tarp. With a gentle bark and a wag of his tail, he signaled the officers to investigate. Exchanging wary glances, Ruiz and his partner lifted the tarp slowly.
