Donald Trump accuses Beyoncé and Oprah of accepting ‘illegal’ political payments

In a lengthy Truth Social post, president Donald Trump accused pop star Beyoncé, among other celebrities, of receiving $11 million to endorse Harris’ presidential bid — an act he claimed had broken campaign finance regulations.

He stated that the singer was paid “to walk onto a stage, quickly ENDORSE KAMALA, and walk off” without actually providing any musical performance, Newsweek reports.

He went on to accuse Oprah Winfrey of doing the same, alleging she was paid $3 million to publicly support Harris. According to the president himself, “very low-rated TV ‘anchor’” Al Sharpton received $600,000 from the Harris campaign.

His post on the social media site read, “I’m looking at the large amount of money owed by the Democrats, after the Presidential Election, and the fact that they admit to paying, probably illegally, Eleven Million Dollars to singer Beyoncé for an ENDORSEMENT (she never sang, not one note, and left the stage to a booing and angry audience!), Three Million Dollars for ‘expenses,’ to Oprah, Six Hundred Thousand Dollars to very low rated TV “anchor,” Al Sharpton (a total lightweight!), and others to be named for doing, absolutely NOTHING!

“These ridiculous fees were incorrectly stated in the books and records. YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PAY FOR AN ENDORSEMENT. IT IS TOTALLY ILLEGAL TO DO SO. Can you imagine what would happen if politicians started paying for people to endorse them.

“All hell would break out! Kamala, and all of those that received Endorsement money, BROKE THE LAW. They should all be prosecuted!”

Trump didn’t provide any proof for the large sums he shared in his post.

In fact, Harris rejected the rumors that the Cowboy Carter songstress was paid $10 million for being part of her campaign — an amount that circulated on the social media after she and Beyoncé appeared together in October 2024. In fact, at the October campaign rally for then-Vice President Kamala Harris, Beyoncé said, “I’m not here as a celebrity. I’m not here as a politician. I’m here as a mother—a mother who cares deeply about the world my children and all of our children live in, a world where we have the freedom to control our bodies, a world where we’re not divided.”

While the Federal Election Commission had no record of an $11 million payment to Beyoncé from Harris’ presidential campaign, the records do show a $165,000 payment to Parkwood Entertainment, the media company Beyoncé founded in 2008.

According to Deadline, Rev. Sharpton’s National Action Network received $500,000 and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions received $1 million for planning a livestreamed event in Michigan.

At this point, the White House hasn’t confirmed whether they would be pursuing any legal actions against Harris’ campaign.
