Pretty wild, right? It seems like for whatever reason, the earwigs are attracted to the olive oil, climb into the bowl, and then are unable to get out.

Although earwig populations seem to be on the rise in general, the presence of earwigs in or around your home could indicate problems with rotting wood. Many pests, including earwigs, are attracted to rotting wood, so it’s always a good idea to check on the structure of your home, as well as the condition of any wood decks, porches, etc.

If you’re sick of earwigs ruining the party, hopefully this simple yet mighty hack will help do the trick. Thanks for sharing, Alicia!

Earwigs may not pose a serious threat, but they can still be a nuisance when they start to invade your living space. If you’re looking for a simple and effective way to get rid of earwigs, then this hack is for you.

Facebook user Alicia Alexander shared her success story of eliminating a large number of earwigs from her backyard by using just one simple ingredient – olive oil. All you need to do is fill a shallow bowl with about half a cup of olive oil and place it outside in your garden or on your deck. In less than 24 hours, you’ll be amazed at how many earwigs have been lured into the bowl. And after 36 hours, the results are even more astonishing.

It’s unclear why earwigs are attracted to olive oil, but it seems to be a foolproof method for trapping them. Once they climb into the bowl, they are unable to escape, making it easy for you to dispose of them. This hack is not only effective but also safe and environmentally friendly.
